Known as 'the Pearl of the Danube' Budapest is a beautiful city which offers much to see and do. Budapest is one of the most magnificent cities in Europe. Admire the magnificant architecture of Hungary’s parliament building, walk the famous Andrásy Avenue – starting from the historic Heroes Square and stretching almost as far as the St Stephen's Basilica. See the city sights on a city tour as you are chauffeured along Budapest's elegant boulevards to Heroes’ Square, across the mighty Danube and up to Gellert Hill. Look out over the famous river dividing Buda and Pest - the two sides linked by the Chain and Elizabeth Bridges. Visit the Castle District and enjoy the amazing views from the Fisherman’s Bastion over the exquisite Parliament building, one of the largest in Europe.
As part of your stay, you will see the best of Budapest on guided city tours and visit the stunning Hungarian Parliament building. You will also enjoy an excursion to the Danube Bend town, Szentendre. During your free time spend the afternoon at the popular pedestrian shopping street of Váci utca and marvel at the city’s fine museums and monuments, churches and synagogues, historic squares and buildings. And if you have time after all that, enjoy a relaxing visit to one of Budapest's famous thermal baths, literally an institution in Budapest!
Your tour will start with an evening flight to Budapest with Ryanair, flight departs Dublin at 19:55 and
arrives Budapest at 23:55. (please note that flight times are subject to change at airline’s discretion)
On arrival, meet your local guide for private coach transfer to the 4*K & K Opera Hotel, where you are booked for four-nights on a bed & breakfast basis.

Centrally located in Budapest, next to the Budapest Opera House and just 100m from the historical Andrássy Avenue, K+K Hotel Opera offers restaurant and bar facilities. All rooms are air conditioned and have a flat-screen satellite TV, desk, telephone, as well as tea and coffee facilities. The famous St. Stephen’s Basilica is approximately 450 metres, with the Chain Bridge 1 km away.
Day 2 – Friday 10 January 2020
This morning, join your local guide for a guided city tour of the Pest Side of Budapest. Today’s tour also includes a visit to the Hungarian parliament, located on the river Danube and one of Budapest’s most famous landmarks. The story behind the building of this great structure is fascinating. The parliament was built between 1885 and 1902 along the Danube and was, for a time, the largest parliamentary building in the world. With 691 rooms and staircases stretching for more than 12 miles (20 kilometers), the building is topped by a dome that sits 226 feet (69 meters) high in the sky. Your forty-five minute guided tour will explore the buildings impressive interior, including the Session Room and the Great Vaulted Hall. Explore this monumental building as you learn about Hungary’s parliamentary policies.

Time to freshen up in the hotel and in the early evening, meet your local guide and fellow travellers for pre-concert buffet dinner followed by coach transfer to the MUPA Palace of the for concert evening with Jonas Kaufmann (with category one tickets)

Transfer back to the hotel at the end of the evening
Day 3 – Saturday 11 January 2020
This morning, contine to learn the history of Budapest as we tour the Buda side of the city visiting the Castle district and the Gellert Hill.
Afterwards, a two-course lunch will be served in one of Budapest’s local restaurants.
Afternoon and evening at leisure.
Day 4 – Sunday 12 January 2020
This morning, we take a guided tour to Szentendre. Set on the Danube River, the postcard-perfect town of Szentendre was settled by Serbs and Greeks in the 16th and 17th centuries. Often referred to as the Artist’s Village, Szentendre has been home to an artists’ colony since 1928. Admire this pretty as you wander its cobblestone streets where museums and galleries abound. After lunch, coach transfer back to your hotel.
Day 5 – Monday 13 January 2020
Enjoy the morning and early afternoon at leisure. Flight departs Budapest at 17:20 and arrives in Dublin at 19:30 (please note that flight time are subject to change).
