The Vienna International Advent Singing Festival is one of the jewels in the CCI crown. The festival is held over four weekends during Advent as Vienna prepares for the Christmas season. During the festival, Choirs have the option of up to four choral performances:
Performance in the Vienna Rathaus (City Hall )
Performance at a Senior Citizen Home
Performance at the Christmas markets
Performance during a mass or church service
Vienna has been home to Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Strauss and continues to maintain an exceptional musical heritage to this day. The city is majestic all year round, but it is during Advent that Vienna comes into its own, with Christkindlmärkte on nearly every corner of the city.
The Rathaus (Vienna Town Hall) and its surroundings come alive during the Advent season and all participating choirs perform in its Festival Hall, a truly unique location. Choirs can also perform outside at a Christmas market. Many of our Christmas market concerts take place outside the Schönbrunn Palace. With its surrounding buildings and huge park, the Schönbrunn Palace is one of the most significant cultural monuments in Austria and was built to rival the Palace at Versailles both in Baroque beauty and splendour. During the Advent season, Christmas markets are set-up throughout the city to which both tourists and the Viennese themselves flock, guaranteeing your choir a captivated audience.
Between performances, choirs can enjoy the city, sip on mulled wine, enjoy the wonder of the Vienna Christmas markets, and truly enter into the Christmas spirit.
