Enjoy four-nights in cultural Berlin with a day trip to Dresden and immerse yourself in Germany’s rich cultural history.

Berlin is a dynamic and cosmopolitan city, ranked as one of Europe’s most exciting destinations. Berlin offers a myriad of things to do and see. See the city sights on a city tour, visit the Pergamonmuseum, see Nefertiti in the Neues Museum and visit Charlottenburg Palace. In your free time, enjoy the many museums on offer, do some shopping or simply relax and enjoy a coffee at one of Berlin’s many cafés. One of the tour highlights is a full day excursion to Dresden, a stunningly beautiful city, sitting majestically astride the stately waters of the River Elbe. It rose to artistic prominence during the early 18th century when August the Strong, ruler of Poland and Saxony, gathered many of the Europe’s best musicians, architects and artists to his capital. Indeed, many of Wagner’s works were first performed here, whilst Canaletto captured Dresden for posterity on numerous occasions, from many different views. Its pre-eminence as a centre for art, classical music, culture and science saw the emergence of fine Renaissance, Baroque and Classical buildings, the majority of which – though destroyed by the allied bombings of 1945 – have been wonderfully restored in recent years, returning Dresden to its stunning former glory in probably the world’s most remarkable restoration.

The 4-star NH Berlin Kurfürstendamm is located an approximate 200 m from Berlin's Kurfürstendamm shopping street with local bars and restaurants juts a short walk away.. Rooms at the hotel are warmly decorated. Hotel facilities include a lobby bar and spa and fitness area.

On arrival, a welcome lunch will be served in the hotel restaurant. After lunch, see the city sights on a guided city tour by coach.

Your City Tour will take you past the famous sights of Berlin including; The Kurfürstendamm, the most popular boulevard in Berlin; The Emperor William Memorial Church, a monument to peace and reconciliation, and the internationally famous symbol of Berlin's desire to rebuild itself in the aftermath of the war; The Brandenburger Tor, (The Brandenburg Gate), Berlin's most famous landmark, The Reichstag; the seat of the German Bundestag or federal government and The Gendarmenmarkt, considered to be one of the most beautiful squares in Europe.

As part of today’s tour, you will have a guided tour in The Pergamonmuseum, one of Germany’s most visited museums. The museum is world-renowned for its impressive collection of art and antiquities from Turkey and the Middle East. The museum sits on Berlin’s UNESCO-listed Museum Island and is split into three permanent exhibitions—the Collection of Classical Antiquities, the Museum of the Ancient Near East, and the Museum of Islamic Art. Please note that the Pergamon Altar itself cannot be seen at this time as the monument is under restoration until 2025.

Day 2 – Friday 22 April 2022

Today, visit Dresden, a stunningly beautiful city, sitting majestically astride the stately waters of the River Elbe.

After breakfast in your hotel, depart by coach for transfer to Dresden (an approximate 2.5 hours drive). On arrival in Dresden, lunch will be served in one of Dresden’s local restaurants.

After your lunch, meet your local Dresden guide for a guided walking tour of Dresden. The city is a pleasure to walk through as you pass-by tasteful shops and walk down the city’s cobbled streets. In spite of vast destruction during the Second World War, the old part of city of Dresden still offers fascinating architecture. The most famous symbol of reconstruction in the city center is Frauenkirche Church whose bell shaped dome has for centuries been an iconic landmark on the city skyline, and whose inside decoration is an outstanding display of baroque art at its best. Many important cultural institutions are situated along the Old Town side of the Elbe banks, including the Old Masters Picture Gallery and the Green Vaults, treasure chamber of the Saxon electors and kings.

A highlight of today’s excursion is a guided tour of the Old Masters Picture Gallery. Here you will find works by Rubens, Cantalleto, Van Dyke and Raffael’s Sistine Madonna.

End the day with some free time to wander about the quaint streets and afterwards coach transfer back to Berlin.

Dinner this evening will be in the hotel restaurant.

Day 3 – Saturday 23 April 2022

Today visit the Neues Museum to see Nefertiti’s Bust and then it’s on to Charlottenburg Palace, Berlin’s largest palace, where you can experience the pomp and majesty of the Hohenzollern Dynasty.

The Nefertiti Bust is a 3,300-year-old painted limestone bust of Nefertiti, the Great Royal Wife of the Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaten, and one of the most copied works of ancient Egypt. It is believed to have been crafted in 1345 BC by the sculptor Thutmose. A German archaeological team led by Ludwig Borchardt discovered the Nefertiti bust in 1912 in Thutmose's workshop in Amarna, Egypt. It has been kept at several locations in Germany since its discovery, including a salt mine in Merkers-Kieselbach, the Dahlem museum (then in West Berlin), the Egyptian Museum in Charlottenburg and the Altes Museum. It is currently on display at the restored and recently re-opened Neues Museum in Berlin, where it was displayed before World War II.

After your guided tour in the Neues Museum, transfer by coach to Charlottenburg Palace for a guided tour of the New wing. On arrival, you will have free time before your guided tour for coffee and cake or lunch (not included).

Built in the 17th and 18th centuries, Charlottenburg Palace combines rococo and baroque decor and architecture, and is surrounded by landscaped gardens in the manner of Versailles. The treedgrounds are ideal for leisurely strolls.
